The first thing I remember about Camilla + George’s wedding was how incredibly hot and humid it was. I’m always taken back by how well couples deal with the heat considering that they are technically wearing heavy layers. A wedding gown isn’t exactly a summer dress and a long sleeve dress shirt with a suit jacket on top is not exactly what you’d wear on a hot and muggy day.
But Camilla + George didn’t care. They didn’t let a second go by without a smile and illuminating the room with their joy.
Camilla + George actually live in Australia but wanted to have their wedding in Canada where George grew up. The ceremony and reception took place at George’s family cottage where they summered each year right on the the beaches of Lake Huron in Grand Bend.
My folks actually have a cottage there too so it was a very sentimental location for me as well. I spent all my summers on Lake Huron, camping at Pinery Provincial Park before we got our cottage. I take my kids there every summer and spend days soaking up the sun and making sure they have as beautiful a childhood as I did in nature, exploring little bugs, finding interesting rocks and shells.
Needless to say, this was a very special wedding for a very special couple.
Here are just some peeks into what was a true family affair wedding right at “home”.
