This amazing couple has set their roots in the ‘Windy City’ of Chicago but we managed to get to know each other better via Skype and while they dropped by Toronto to finalize their wedding plans and visit their family.
This is an American/Canadian love story that I was so incredibly excited and honoured to be a part of. These two lovebird had their hearts set on Honsberger Estate Winery for the ceremony and reception. I have to say that this is a wonderful venue and a favourite of mine to photograph. The rustic buildings, lush landscaped grounds and endless views of the vineyard made it a stunning backdrop for all of their portraits.
We took advantage of the scenic Niagara-on-the-Lake for their prep photos along with their 1st look (reveal) which is always very special to photograph. There’s something about the initial look that the couple share with one another, without anyone around that brings warmth and genuine emotions that I love to capture.
Following the 1st look, we set out to Honsberger Estate for their group portraits and luck was on our side. The sun shined throughout the session however moments leading up to the ceremony (which was meant to be outdoors), a fierce surge of rain came down, forcing all of the guests to retreat into the large indoor space where the ceremony took place instead.
The reception also took place onsite at the circa 1800’s vintage barn and the area was transformed into an elegant and rustic country oasis with beautifully decorated interiors including the table settings, lighting, and beautiful florals. Shortly after the sunset, Karen + Jeff had their 1st dance under the romantic pendant lighting and the starry night sky. It was truly a beautiful experience and a joy to photograph.
The festivities continued on the dance floor by the talented live band – God Made Me Funky!
What a brilliant name right?! Guests were provided shades with both USA and Canadian flags on them and celebrated Canada Day together with sparklers and cheers. The party continued way into the night and this group definitely knew how to have fun as you will see from the photos. At one point I just wanted to join in and get my dance on!
Karen + Jeff were so amazing to work with and I wish them all the best in their new journey in life together. Congratulations!
